Initially
my intentions for my work are to create a publication that truly shows my style
and personality that clearly show what I can do and what I am capable off. Also
to express my passion through art and not only fashion itself. I wanted to make
a statement that clearly defies me as a professional when it comes to my job
applications. I also intend to wow my viewers/readers when they see my magazine
and to have the image of remembering, like having something to remind them when
they think of my magazine. Because of my initial ideas that came from
Minimalism I’ve managed to come up to the certain style that I think that truly
defies me as an artist. By looking at the aspects of minimalism through out
this project, made me knew about the different sides of it. Through geometry,
architectures, fashion and daily life it all can be related and that’s what I
like about minimalism, and because of that everything had become aesthetically
appealing to me in terms of placing things together and looking an object in a
different way. Using lights and contrasts to add a little more edge to
minimalism has also been an option to me, and when I have tried and tested the
aesthetic of a simple object I liked how it turned out. I’ve also wanted to make
my shoots to be photographed into a plain background so the foreground will
stand out. Still using the same techniques and idea for the photo shoot like
using the bright and contrasts has still put up into my shoots. In this way I
get to play around with the shadows within the object or model, I like to
emphasize something in a photograph
especially when I’m using a dark setting or background. Body forms and emotions
are my focus on most of my photo shoots, I showed a lot of structures and positioning
of the body, in relating to architecture and geometry but interpreting it onto
body forms.
In
designing my publication at first my ideas were just to be a simple magazine
with a simple cover and has an outstanding name. Choosing the perfect name for
a publication could be hard, especially if you want your magazine to be unique,
but I ended up naming it ‘Blank’ for me it clearly defies what I am trying to
get across with my audiences, having it in a plain cover is like representing
elegance and simplicity and that’s what I like and having it presented into a
plain black presentation box makes it even more unique and clean. For me it
makes a publication special or more like a limited edition publication. The
intention of the single pages is to have the feeling of flipping pages but not
like every magazine, its more like looking into an artist precious work, which
every editorial magazine should be, for me atleast. For the final outcome I am
very pleased with it and it truly shows what I want to be and to do as a
professional.
